Firm Honored for Community Service

The Salvation Army of Knoxville presented their Red Shield Award to The Lawyers of Brown & Roberto in recognition of our service to the organization. The award was presented at the City of Hope Gala, an annual event that raises money for the programs and services of The Salvation Army. Richard Cramer of Johnstone Supply, was presented with the George Archer Award for his service to the advisory board. Former Vol Inky Johnson provided an inspirational message about serving others.

The Red Shield Award is presented to individuals or organizations that demonstrate the core values of The Salvation Army. Those core values are compassionate, passionate, brave, uplifting, and trustworthy.

“We’re extremely honored to be recognized by The Salvation Army,” said Andrew Roberto. “It’s a joy to invest our time and resources there because we see the difference that they make in the lives of men, women and children in need.”

The Salvation Army has been serving the Knoxville community since 1899. The Knoxville Area Command now serves more than 30,000 annually in Knox, Blount, Anderson, Sevier, Cocke, and Campbell Counties through a variety of programs and services. The Knoxville headquarters is home to two transitional housing programs for men, a transitional housing program for women, and a shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. They also have a career center to help their clients reenter the work force, and an Emergency Assistance program that helps low income families with things like food, gas, and clothing.

Our firm volunteers once a month to serve lunch in the kitchen, we participate in the Red Kettle Campaign at Christmas, we helped sponsor the City of Hope Gala, and we’ve donated our advertising time. In addition, Andrew serves as the chairman of the Advisory Board.

“I would like to encourage everyone to visit The Salvation Army,” said Andrew. “Take a tour and sign up to volunteer. I know that you’ll be both challenged and blessed by getting involved in community service.”
