Community Matters at Brown & Roberto. That’s one of the reasons we’re so impressed with Robbie Novak.
We may be behind the curve, but we recently were introduced to Robbie Novak, a.k.a. “Kid President”. He has a great collection of videos on his YouTube channel, but the one that caught our eye was the one above, #Socktober. In fact, it has inspired us.
As you probably already know, the lawyers of Brownand Roberto are committed to our partnership with The Salvation Army. They do more than just provide food and shelter. They are putting people back to work and teaching them the life skills they need to be successful. That’s why we volunteer with them on a regular basis. This month, though, we thought we would take Kid President’s challenge to heart – let’s take back the internet and do something great!
Socks are not a huge need, but toiletries are. Many of the men, women and children who come to The Salvation Army each day come only with the clothes they are wearing. This month we’ll be collecting toiletries to donate to The Salvation Army – things that they can pass on to those in need. Some of the more useful items include soap, shampoo, razors and shaving cream, toothbrushes and toothpaste and fingernail clippers. Would you join with us in collecting these items? You can drop them off at The Salvation Army (409 N. Broadway) or bring them to our office (259 N Peters Rd.) all this month.
And help us spread the word. Let others know what you are doing and encourage them to get involved using the hashtag #socktober on facebook and twitter. Maybe we can all give the world a reason to dance!
