We often say that community matters at The Lawyers of Brown & Roberto. We feel a responsibility to help make our community a better place for everyone to live and work, and we are blessed to be in a position to do that. One of the places that we have chosen to invest is with the Epilepsy Foundation of East Tennessee through our Lids4Kids campaign.
Head trauma is a leading cause – and a preventable one – of new cases of epilepsy. This is particularly true in children, especially in families with a lower socioeconomic status. The Lids4Kids Campaign promotes bike safety by educating kids about the importance of wearing a helmet, and by providing free helmets to kids in under resourced communities.
Our Idea
Each year, with the help of the Epilepsy Foundation of East Tennessee, we pick a local elementary school and challenge the students to participate in an art contest. This year we’ve chosen to partner with East Knox County Elementary School.
Students have submitted art projects that communicate the importance of bicycle safety. Our judges will choose the very best entries and feature them on our Facebook page where you can vote for your favorites. The winners will earn new bicycle helmets for their whole class.
We’ll be visiting East Knox County Elementary on Friday, May 8 at 9 am to announce the winners and hand out the prizes.
