PTSD & Suicide Prevention Event Coming to Knoxville

The Tennessee Vietnam Veterans, Inc exists to foster, encourage, educate and promote improvement of the condition of Tennessee’s veterans. Furthermore, to support the veteran and their family as they conquer the conflicts associated with the veteran’s reentry into society. To enable this mission the TVV is involved directly with and/or supports projects and programs in the State of Tennessee through a network of 21 Vietnam Veterans of America Chapters.

The following announcement comes from Barry Rice, President of the Tennessee Council of the Vietnam Veterans of America and Tennessee Vietnam Veterans, Inc.

Statistics don’t lie.

More American service members (both active duty and veterans) have committed suicide over the past decade than made the supreme sacrifice in Iraq and Afghanistan – combined!

And there’s more . . .

  • Out of six anxiety diagnoses, PTSD was significantly associated with suicidal attempts.
  • 22 veterans commit suicide per day, 8,030 per year (not including attempts).
  • More than 70% of those suicides were aged 50 year or older.
  • Male veterans under the age of 30 who commit suicide has jumped 44.

Tennessee Vietnam Veterans, Inc. is passionate about the battle against the rising suicide rate – and is resolute in reaching out to veterans and their families.

TVVI is proud to announce a series of PTSD & Suicide Prevention Town Hall Meetings, modeled after our very successful Agent Orange Town Hall Meetings. The first PTSD & Suicide Prevention Town Hall Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 2nd in Knoxville, followed by other cities across Tennessee. These events will be an opportunity to learn more about PTSD, available counseling and treatment services for military service members and veterans and their families, and afford an opportunity for attendees to speak with Veteran Service Officers about potential VA benefits.

When called to duty, Vietnam Veterans answered. Now, as citizens, we are answering the call of our brothers in arms, and families, in their darkest hour of need and we need your help.

Your donation to Tennessee Vietnam Veterans, Inc., will assist with the expenses related to our PTSD & Suicide Prevention Town Hall Meetings, including, but not limited to, educational materials, A/V equipment, printing, literature and supplies. TVVA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit veterans organization, and all contributions are tax deductible as allowed by law.

Donate today – no contribution is too small to help save the life of an American service member.

Client Reviews
★★★★★
"We tried to go through the insurance company ourselves, but they basically just laughed at us. So I got in touch with The Lawyers of Brown & Roberto. The insurance company's attitude really changed, and within a week we had our car replaced and rehabilitation going for my wife. The Lawyers of Brown & Roberto stuck in there and fought for us." J. Felver
★★★★★
"Had it not been for The Lawyers of Brown & Roberto, I would be in a mess. I would not have been able to handle the paper work or things that would have been required to stand in a court of law myself. They got the most that I could have gotten for any injury that I had. I was more than pleased with the settlement. They handled my case promptly and very professionally." D. Blakeman
★★★★★
"I would recommend The Lawyers of Brown & Roberto because they are for the client. They are extremely tough when they go to court, they keep you well informed, and they treat you as a person. They are extremely good attorneys. They changed my life. They helped my life because they believed in me. They fought for me. I thank God for them." C. Scarbrough
